INTRODUCING
Nashy Bear & Maple Moon's Enchanted Forest Adventure
Childrens$29.95

Step into a world of wonder
Step into a world of wonder with Nashy Bear & Maple Moon’s Enchanted Forest Adventure — a story about two siblings who long for quiet in an overwhelming world. What begins as a search for peace unfolds into a tale of connection, courage, and working together to make things better.
Thoughtfully written and illustrated, the book blends poetic language with expressive artwork to create a rich, immersive reading experience. Its soft colour palette and structured layout support focus and reduce visual overwhelm — especially for children who are visually oriented or process the world a little differently.
It’s the kind of story you read slowly, talk about afterwards, and return to when you need a moment of calm.
Readers have called the story “gentle,” “soothing,” and “deeply meaningful,” with illustrations described as “magical” and “mesmerising.”
This debut title from Taryn Ablott is a celebration of children who feel deeply, think differently, and deserve stories that honour both.
A limited first print run is now available, with a companion colouring book arriving soon.
Perfect for:
- Children who enjoy magical storytelling and visual detail
- Families seeking soothing, emotionally rich picture books
- Gifted readers who still delight in illustrated stories
- Children who benefit from visual scaffolding and consistent layouts
Let Nashy Bear and Maple Moon’s journey spark imagination and meaningful conversations — at home, in the classroom, or wherever stories are shared.
Q&A with the Author
The author shares the inspiration, themes and creative choices behind the book.
I originally wrote it for my niece and nephew, who are both neurodivergent. I wanted them to have a story where they could see themselves — not just as side characters, but right at the heart of the adventure. As I wrote, I realised I was also speaking to the child I once was — sensitive, introspective, and always searching for meaning.
My hope is that it helps children feel seen — and offers something they’ll want to return to, again and again.
While the vocabulary may suit ages 8–12, younger children can enjoy listening to the rhyme and exploring the rich illustrations with an adult. It’s particularly well suited to gifted readers who still delight in picture books, and to children who are neurodivergent, sensitive, or visually oriented. That said, there’s no “right” way to experience a story. Some children may connect most deeply with the words, others with the art — and some simply enjoy revisiting a favourite page again and again. All of these are valid.
Please note: This story contains a brief scene involving a forest fire. No animals are harmed, and the crisis is resolved calmly and safely. The scene is intended to highlight courage and care, not distress. If your child has experienced a natural disaster, we recommend previewing the book first to ensure it’s a good fit.
As a child, many picture books felt too loud or chaotic. Bright primary colours like yellow hurt my eyes, and jumbled layouts made it hard to know where to look. I’ve since learned that many neurodivergent children experience the same.
That’s why this book uses a soft colour palette, structured layout, and clean, consistent typography — to support focus and reduce sensory load. It’s designed to feel peaceful and intuitive, so that readers can fully engage with the story.
Gifted children — especially those who still love illustrated books but want emotional or conceptual complexity — are sometimes caught between reading levels. This story helps bridge that gap.
The story gently explores sensory overwhelm, emotional regulation, and the value of connection over isolation. It also weaves in themes of restorative thinking, courage, and cooperation — showing that even small actions can help repair harm and restore balance.
Absolutely. Children — especially those who are sensitive, highly verbal, or neurodivergent — are often far more emotionally and intellectually perceptive than we give them credit for. They notice everything and want to understand it.
As a child, I didn’t just want a happy ending — I wanted to know why characters acted the way they did, and why stories often avoided deeper truths. This book was written for children like that — thoughtful readers who ask big questions, even when they’re still young.
I hope children see themselves in Nashy and Maple — especially those who sometimes feel overwhelmed or unsure of where they belong.
The story shows that true healing often happens through connection — by listening, acting with kindness, and understanding others, even when it’s hard.
Children experience big emotions and social challenges every day. I hope this story offers them a gentle way to explore those moments with more clarity and confidence.
Yes! A companion colouring book titled Enchanted Animals will be available from 28 June. It features 25 original illustrations adapted from the story and designed to be enjoyed as a calming creative activity for people of all ages.
I’m also working on a new collaborative children’s story with another author.
